January 2009
Friday 23rd January
Performing at the 47th Scaledown (in no particular order):
Garden City Project - Return of the kitchen born folk folksy soul boss a nova psych quintet. The Garden City project will perform a specially scaled down version of their set.
Yusuf B'layachi - Stepping up at the last minute (to cover a no-show due to illness) Yusuf will enchant and delight us with his brittle yet defiant songs performed acoustically.
Martin White - Straddling successfully the bedmates of music and comedy, Martin (sans his Mystery Fax Machine Orchestra), will delight with his macabre accordionated tales.
Gerard Cousins & Yusuf B'layachi - A guitar duo (one steel strung and one nylon strung) who perform minimal instrumental music inspired by their repeated listenings to works by John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Steve Reich and Debussy. The metallic sounds of the steel strung guitar provide a raw edge to contrast with the softer, more refined tones of the spanish classical guitar.
Roshi - Iranian/Welsh Roshi provides a tantalising mix of exotic electronica, folk and the ethereal which will excite us all here at Scaledown.
